MIL-F-48057B(AR)
3.8.3 Firing. The detonator of the fuze sub-assembly shall function
after arming and application of an external voltage to the fuze firing circuit
in the centrifuge.
3.8.4 Jumble. The sub-assembly assembled in a test fixture shall pass
Test 102 of MIL-D-331, except that the electric detonator and/or the striker
(Type I) or the Release Pin (Type II) may initiate as long as this occurs with
the rotor in the safe position. (See 6.5)
3.8.5 Jolt. The sub-assembly in a test fixture shall pass Test 101 of
MIL-STD-331, except that the electric detonator and/or the striker (Type I) or
the Release Pin (Type II) may initiate as long as this occurs with the rotor
in the safe position. (See 6.5)
3.8.6 Vibration. The sub-assembly shall function as specified after
subjection to the Helicopter Vibration Test in accordance with Appendix A.
3.8.7 Forty-foot drop. The complete fuze, warhead and motor assembly
shall withstand the Forty-Foot Drop Test specified in MIL-STD-331. To satisfy
the requirements of MIL-STD-331, the disassembled fuze must display the condi-
tions listed in 6.5.
3.8.8 S&A position. The safe position of the S&A shall be verified just
before insertion into the fuze body. After insertion of the S&A, fuze
handling shall be controlled to preclude any chance of inadvertent arming or
substitution of the S&A until assembly of the safe handling plug.
3.8.9 Five-foot drop. The fuze sub-assembly shall be safe to handle,
fire, or dispose of following the five-foot drop test. It need not be
operable and the electric detonator and/or the striker (Type I) or Release Pin
(Type II) may initiate as long as this occurs with the rotor in the safe
position.
3.9 Fuze performance. The fuzes, both Type I and Type II, shall comply
with the following requirements prior to acceptance of the lot.
3.9.1 Fuze function. The fuze shall arm and cause the warhead to deto-
nate upon impacting natural ground surface or target impact. The fuze shall
meet this requirement at any temperature between minus 40 and plus 150°F.
3.9.2 Air bursts. There shall be no fuze function in the launcher or in
flight before impact.
