MILITARY SPECIFICATION
FUZE, ROCKET, PIBD, M438 SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH DETONATOR
This specification is approved for use by the US Army Armament Research
and Development Command, and is available for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the quality assurance provisions and
special requirements not covered by the drawings for parts and assembly of the
Fuze, Rocket, PIBD, M438 Sub-Assembly with Detonator, with option of one (1)
of two (2) Power Supply Sources: Thermal Battery or Magnetic Impulse Genera-
tor (MIG).
1.2 Classification.
The power supply option for the Fuze M438, covered
by this specification shall be of the following types, as specified:
Type I, Fuze, Rocket, PIBD, M438 Sub-Assembly, Part No. 9259237,
consisting of:
a. Power Supply Part No. 11707051 (Thermal Battery)
b. Safety and Arming Device, Part No. 11008351
c. Impact Switch, Part No. 11714370-2
d. Base Assembly, Part No. 9259250
Type II, Fuze, Rocket, PIBD, M438 Sub-Assembly, Part No. 11830059
consisting of:
a. Power Supply, Part No. 11830060 (Magnetic Impulse Generator)(MIG)
b. Safety and Arming Device, Part No. 11830062
c. Impact Switch, Part No. 11714370-2
d. Base Assembly, Part No. 11830052

APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on date of invitation
for bids, or request for proposals, form a part of this specification to the
extent specified herein.
